Zapopan, Jalisco; June 13, 2025. - In a significant step towards international academic cooperation, the Universidad Panamericana campus Guadalajara participated on May 20 in the signing of the Manifesto of the Consortium of Social Entrepreneurship Satellite Laboratories.. This global initiative brings together universities from six countries with the aim of transforming research and social impact from a decentralized and collaborative perspective.
Participating universities include HSE University of St. Petersburg (Russia), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (Malaysia), University of Campinas and the State University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), as well as the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (Indonesia). This collaborative network originated in 2023 as a trilateral partnership between HSE, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universidad Panamericana.

A new model of academic cooperation from the global south
The consortium promotes the Satellite Laboratory Model (SLM), aimed at reconfiguring academic cooperation from the global south, questioning traditional North-South hierarchies. The Dr. Magdalena A. One of the early fruits of this collaboration was the publication of the first BRICS city ranking of BRICS cities in 2023 by the Universidad Panamericana. This list also included Mexican cities such as Guadalajara, Querétaro and Monterrey.
The next edition will incorporate metropolises outside the BRICS group, such as New York and Paris, and will address the phenomenon of "ranking divergence", analyzing why universities such as Harvard appear in different positions depending on the methodology.

Research in Jalisco with global impact
In parallel, the lab is moving forward with a pioneering project to identify and analyze social entrepreneurship companies in Jalisco.
