The Dr. Mónica Castillo Delgadilloresearch professor at the Language Center at the Universidad Panamericana campus Aguascalientes participated in the IATEFL Edinburgh 2025 in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he gave a workshop to English language teachers from all over the world.

The International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL)The International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) is a distinguished association that supports teachers and ELT professionals around the world in their professional development, as well as providing a space to connect and exchange ideas.
One of the most recognized events that the association organizes is the IATEFL International Conference and ExpositionThe event features more than 600 academic sessions, including keynote plenary sessions, presentations, workshops, round tables, short talks and poster presentations.

Virtual escape room activities to promote the TOEFL student agency
This year, the conference brought together some 1,200 people from more than 100 countries for a week-long for one week. During the event, the Universidad Panamericana was present with the participation of Dr. Mónica Castillo Delgadillo, Ph. Dr. Monica Castillo Delgadillowho gave the workshop Virtual escape room activities to promote the TOEFL student agency from April 8 to 11, 2025.

"I developed a virtual 'escape room', that is, this type of place where you leave a room by solving different riddles or solving questions, TOEFL type, according to a theme, but I did it in a virtual way. The theme I chose was Edinburgh Castle," he says.he says.
The purpose of this workshop is for teachers to realize how they can facilitate students' development of different skills and take charge of their teaching through this type of practical activities.
"Even though students may have a good level of English, they need to develop other strategies to pass the test and obtain an expected result. They also need to realize that they can have an impact on their results if they put in the effort, if they do different practices; they can change their results, that is, more cognitive and emotional aspects," he adds.he adds.

In addition to enriching her professional practice, Dr. Castillo's participation in IATEFL 2025 strengthened the international prestige of Universidad Panamericana. "These types of forums allow us to share experiences with colleagues from around the world and generate new pedagogical ideas.
