UP promotes academic internationalization in collaboration with the University of Nürtingen-Geislingen

Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; December 9, 2025.— The Universidad Panamericana AguascalientesUniversidad Panamericana continues to expand its international presence through its collaboration with the University of Nürtingen-Geislingen (HfWU), where, through the School of Economics and Business, students developed a joint academic project with Empacadora San Francisco and the German institution.

A partnership focused on fostering ties between universities and businesses

This strategic partnership, which began more than a decade ago, has been strengthened through faculty involvement, academic visits, and student exchanges between the two institutions.

In 2024, the partnership made significant progress with a visit by a German delegation to the campus and the addition of the Universidad Panamericana program Visiting Professorshipprogram, supported by an educational foundation affiliated with a local German bank.

On this occasion, Dr. Marco Eliseo Rivera, a research professor at the School of Economics and Business, participated in the program, where he was invited to share his experience with students at the University of Nürtingen-Geislingen. This initiative led to the development of an international academic project aimed at fostering ties between the university and the business community.

“During the conference ‘Interdisciplinary Research Meeting 2025’, we welcomed professors from Germany who participated in the development of this project and took them to visit the San Francisco Packing Plant, to whom we are grateful for opening their doors to collaborate with us, says the professor.

An academic project with real-world impact

As part of the program, students in the "Distribution Channel Strategy" course , under the guidance of Dr. Rivera, participated in a binational project focused on Empacadora San Francisco, a Mexican company interested in evaluating its potential entry into the German market.

The purpose of this course was for students to conduct an in-depth analysis of the company’s distribution channels in Mexico, which resulted in a proposal for four different distribution channels for the meat-packing company’s various product lines: fried foods, smoked meats, sausages, and marinated meats.

In addition, they incorporated strategies push and pull tailored to the European context, identified potential suppliers, estimated costs, risk areas, and possible solutions to logistical challenges.

The project was integrated with the work of the International Marketing students at HfWU, who will continue to develop the business expansion plan for the Mexican company in Germany.

Education with a global perspective

Sofía Aguilar, a student in the Business Administration and Marketing program, noted that the project presented an academic and personal challenge that pushed her to new heights.

“Working on this international project was an enriching experience, both academically and personally, because you want to rise to the challenge and meet the expectations of professors from another country, who have a different perspective and culture”, she shares.

In addition, they demonstrated confidence in the preparation they had received from the professor, who had been advising the students remotely for several weeks.

“The most important thing is that what we proposed are credible strategies that will actually be implemented and that others will rely on to move forward to the next phase, he adds.

For her part, Isabela Ruiz, a member of another team, emphasized the importance of taking an academic project with real business implications seriously: “The pressure was greater because it wasn’t just a college assignment. Our analysis could determine whether Empacadora San Francisco would decide to expand into Germany or not, she reflects.

“It was a significant undertaking, and the feedback from the professors at the University of Nürtingen-Geislingen was objective and very valuable,”, he adds.

Education with an international perspective

Projects like these reinforce the Universidad Panamericana mission to develop leaders capable of thriving in multicultural and globalized environments, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and the business world.

Through initiatives like this, the Universidad Panamericana its commitment to international education, industry partnerships, and the development of professional skills that prepare students for a global environment.
