Importance of the environment

Part of the conference dealt with the ecological issue, so important for all countries around the world these days. An important approach to the topic can be given within the university classrooms, since "the agri-food sector can be key to mitigate climate change and preserve theenvironment", as Dr. Julieta commented, adding that Aguascalientes is a young and hardworking state and that, despite being small, it is an important food producer at the national level.

He also explained that the inflation of food prices occurs, in large part, because we do not take full advantage of them by minimizing waste and integrating them into healthy diets, in addition to talking about proposals for households such as the creation of home gardens.

He criticized the disadvantages in parts of the population where resources are scarcer: "in rural areas people have low incomes, and women in the countryside are at a disadvantage as are indigenous women who are artisans, producers and are caring for children. We must work to ensure that they have equality with other women and men, while at the same time seeking economic growth.

He affirmed that fair trade seeks that all producers in Aguascalientes can market their products and earn what they truly deserve, and that society also has a very important role in this process, since it is the one who will consume the products.

"The lands of our country are effective but they have to be worked properly, so that everyone can benefit, leaving no one behind, it is our responsibility," he concluded.
