Mexico City, August 15, 2024.— Students in the Philosophy and Education programs at the Universidad Panamericana Open University had the opportunity to travel to London to take a course in general semantics at the October Gallery.
The Importance of International Experience

In addition, they foster personal growth and adaptability and provide a global perspective, thereby preparing students to face challenges with confidence and resilience in an increasingly interconnected world.
“It’s really worth it; it’s a very enriching experience, both academically and personally. I recommend it 100%,” says Enrique Hernández Laos Crump, an online philosophy student at Panamericana, reflecting on his experience.
Interdisciplinary approach
The course the students took was interdisciplinary and covered topics such as language, semiotics, signs, education, and philosophy. “My overall experience was very positive; the curriculum was engaging, the speakers were highly qualified, the sessions and activities were dynamic and interesting, and my international classmates always had insightful opinions and perspectives to share, ”says Enrique.
In Enrique's view, the benefits of the course's interdisciplinary approach allowed both him and his classmates to realize that the philosophical topics they study and the questions they address are universal for both teachers and students.
He also notes that this experience allowed them to hear about the experiences of international faculty and students from various professions and disciplines, which broadened their worldview.
Meanwhile, when discussing the skills or competencies he developed through the course, Enrique says he learned “to listen more, use my senses more, pause before responding, become more aware of my own mental map and understand others’, and be more conscious of how I speak and how others speak.”
