ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; September 1, 2022. Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara received renowned professors from universities in Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, Spain and Italy, within the framework of the project called CODICIS. This project seeks to strengthen capacities for the recovery and conservation of Latin America's documentary and bibliographic heritage.

This supports the search for the training of personnel related to the conservation and management of archives and heritage libraries, through the design and execution of a specialization course.

Also, the implementation of laboratories specialized in the conservation and enhancement of heritage documents and books. The project is financed by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program. Erasmus+. The project is currently designed to meet the pedagogical and academic needs of Peru, Bolivia and Mexico.

First Stage: WP1

The process is carried out in 9 stages, each of which is led by a university. The Universidad Panamericana was responsible for the first stage of work, called WP1.

During this stage, the methodological, pedagogical and academic bases for training in the conservation and management of documentary cultural heritage were determined. The methodological framework for the diagnosis was defined, a comparative analysis was made of the existing situation in archives and libraries with heritage collections in Peru, Bolivia and Mexico, and the best practices of HEIs in the EU were presented at a Virtual Conference.

Documentary and bibliographic heritage

To conclude with this round table, the Universidad Panamericana is proud to organize the Regional Symposium "Documentary and Bibliographic Heritage: Sources and Research Techniques". "Documentary and Bibliographic Heritage: Sources and Research Techniques", in which various sources for heritage studies were discussed, together with conservation and preservation practices. which addressed various sources for heritage studies, together with the conservation and preservation practices of European institutions of higher education and regional practices.

The first day of the symposium dealt with topics such as "Sources for heritage studies in libraries", "Sources for heritage studies in archives" and finally "Heritage and personal sources for biographical research".

On the second day, the following topics were discussed: "The Memory of the World Program and documentary heritage", "Digitization of archives and documents", "Conservation of ecclesiastical historical archives" and the event closed with "Conservation and restoration of the archives of the Public Library of the State of Jalisco". The event concluded with a discussion to highlight regional experiences in archives and librarianship in the region.
