Mexico City, January 27, 2026.—The Universidad Panamericana, in collaboration with Merco México and El Universal, hosted the official presentation of the results of Merco Líderes 2025, one of the most significant studies in Mexico for evaluating corporate leadership, its impact on corporate reputation, and the building of social trust.
The event brought together business leaders, who discussed the role of responsible leadership in building economic, social, and reputational value within organizations.
Ethical Leadership and Holistic Education
The event for the 13th edition of the Merco ranking began with a welcome address by Cecilia Canal Garrido, M.A., Vice Rector of the Mexico City Campus, who emphasized the importance of developing leaders with an ethical vision, social commitment, and the ability to exert a positive influence, in line with the current challenges of the business and social environment.

Juan Jesús Cano, marketing director at El Universal, then emphasized the importance of relying on solid research and rigorous methodologies that allow for a comprehensive analysis of leadership, going beyond financial results.

Results and Methodology of Merco Líderes 2025
The results were presented by Itzel Torres, CEO of Merco México, who shared the key findings of the ranking and explained how the study has evolved over its 25-year history.

In his remarks, he emphasized that Merco (Corporate Reputation Business Monitor) measures companies’ reputations from a comprehensive perspective by assessing the perceptions of various stakeholders and incorporating digital analysis and hard data into its methodology.
He also emphasized that Merco is an independent and organic monitoring body, externally audited by KPMG, which ensures the transparency, objectivity, and rigor of its findings.

The event was attended by representatives from leading national and international companies, including Walmart, 3M, Bitso, BIVA, Mercado Libre, General Motors, Novartis, Microsoft, Grupo Modelo, and Unilever, reflecting the business sector’s interest in forums for discussion on leadership, corporate reputation, and social responsibility.

A key part of the event was the panel discussion The Impact of Good Leadership on Corporate Reputation, moderated by Itzel Torres, with the participation of:

The panelists agreed that today's leadership requires consistency, a long-term vision, ethics, and social responsibility—key elements for strengthening organizations' reputations and building trust.

During the awards ceremony, the members of the Merco Líderes 2025 ranking were recognized, as were the 25 Women Leaders, highlighting their influence, consistency, and ability to build trust among employees, customers, and society. The Merco 100 ranking was also presented, which identifies the country’s most reputable leaders.
