ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; April 30, 2024.—Last Thursday, April 25, at the Poliforum Panamericano, the department of Arts and Culture of the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Campus, as part of the activities for the ninth edition of FEST UP “The Art of Being a Woman,” hosted the return to the stage of the group“The New Old Kids.” On this occasion, the event stood out for its focus on Latin culture.
The show begins
The event attracted members of the university community and several visitors from outside the university; the audience began gathering at 7:00 p.m. to enter the esplanade of the Pan American Polyforum, eventually filling the venue to capacity. The band “The Fuel” opened the show.
The stars of the “The New Old Kids” concert were the college students from the artistic groups“Instrumentos UP,” “Danza UP,” and “Coro UP,”who shared with the audience a repertoire that celebrated the passion for Latin American music and dance.
With nearly 900 attendees, the Poliforum was the setting for a showcase of a semester’s worth of work by everyone involved. The concert began promptly at 8:00 p.m., and over the course of 60 minutes, the audience enjoyed a varied repertoire ranging from salsa and bachata rhythms to pop melodies, as the artists demonstrated their skill and dedication, taking the audience on a journey through the sounds and rhythms of Latin America.
The event reached its peak when the audience stood up and began dancing to the rhythm of the cumbia. Some attendees even mimicked the choreography of the Danza UP dance troupe. The audience’s energy was contagious, creating an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm.
Support for Student Projects
A commemorative plaque was unveiled in recognition of the legacy and contributions of the Department of Art and Culture. Rafael Santana, M.A., dean of the School of Communication, was the special guest who unveiled the plaque. This moment serves as a tribute to all those who have helped make our university a place where art and culture transform and enrich our lives.
The unveiling of the commemorative plaque was a moment that honored the dedication and commitment of more than 160 students who have worked to promote and enrich cultural life on campus. Amid applause and gestures of appreciation, the plaque was unveiled, officially marking a lasting reminder of the impact that the Department of Art and Culture has had on the university community.
The event was very well received by the public; attendees expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to enjoy the students’ talent. It is important to highlight the students’ participation, as they not only focus on their studies but also dedicate themselves to developing their artistic skills. This initiative demonstrates the commitment of the Universidad Panamericana to fostering creativity and the well-rounded development of its students.
