UP Signs Agreement with Tencent to Promote Technology Training for Its Students

Mexico City, May 19, 2026.—The Universidad Panamericana signed a partnership agreement with PUBGM, one of the most popular mobile games, developed by Tencent, the industry’s leading technology company.

This agreement represents a significant step toward promoting the training of young Mexicans in fields such as engineering, technology, and video game development, through initiatives that foster the exchange of knowledge, innovation, and connections with the global industry.

The event was attended by Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, president of the Universidad Panamericana Mexico campus; Dr. Eduardo de la Vega, dean of the School of Engineering at the Universidad Panamericana; Stephanie Barquet Nemer, M.A., director of Animation and Video Game Engineering; and Li Jiajia, director of publications at PUBG MOBILE Americas.

During the ceremony, Dr. Eduardo de la Vega highlighted the importance of this partnership for college students and for their growth through new learning opportunities.

“It is an honor to be part of this historic moment for the Universidad Panamericana, our School of Engineering, and especially for our students who dream of shaping the future through creative innovation in technology,” he said.

The partnership includes a variety of collaboration opportunities, including academic visits to Tencent’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China; participation in projects related to platforms such as PUBG MOBILE; specialized conferences; competitions; international training programs; internships; and networking opportunities for students.

These initiatives will enable students to complement their academic education with international experiences, while strengthening skills that are highly valued in sectors such as technology, digital entertainment, and innovation.

For his part, Dr. Santiago García highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of video games and their ability to integrate different fields of knowledge.

“We must develop new technologies from an interdisciplinary perspective. Projects related to animation and video games involve fields such as psychology, law, business, and, of course, engineering. For this reason, we believe this initiative is a great opportunity to promote a well-rounded education that addresses the current challenges facing society and the industry, he said.

Finally, Li Jiajia highlighted the importance of this agreement as an opportunity to expose students to the professional environment of one of the world’s fastest-growing industries.

“We’re very excited because this is the first official PUBG Mobile university partnership in Latin America. What we’re doing is much more than just playing; we’re building a bridge between the classroom and the real global video game industry,” he said.

Through this agreement, the Universidad Panamericana reaffirms its commitment to training leaders capable of innovating, creating high-impact technological solutions, and contributing to the development of industries that are strategic for the future.
