Aguascalientes, Ags., May 4, 2024.- Civil Engineering students from our Panamericana campus Panamericana campus Aguascalientesstood out for their great participation in the Olympiad of the National Association of Civil Engineering Students (OlimpiANEIC 2024), in which they participate for the second time.
An event in favor of engineering academic development
The Olimpiada Nacional de Estudiantes de Ingeniería Civil (OlimpiANEIC) is an event held annually since 1985, in which around 70 universities from all over the country participate and is organized by the Asociación Nacional de Estudiantes de Ingeniería Civil (ANEIC).
The OlimpiANEIC brings together outstanding civil engineering students to promote coexistence, human development and healthy competition through academic, cultural, technical, sports and philanthropic activities. Its objective is to recognize the best civil engineering students in the country and promote the formation of leaders with values.
"I have observed in the students the attitude of not being afraid of challenges and competitiveness, qualities that have undoubtedly helped them as a team in these competitions," says Dr. Isaí Reyes, professor and team coach.
Medal list
Among the various competitions that make up the Olympiad, the Civil Engineering team won three silver medals in the following categories:
- Construction Academic Competency.
- Concrete Frisbee Technical Competition.
- National Steel Bridge Competition.
In the National Steel Bridge Competition, Andrés Pérez, José Orozco, Miguel Lara, Leonardo Bernal, Alfonso González, Aldo Mata, Melissa Castorena, Francisco Olguín and Alberto Díaz stood out.
"This competition is new at the national level and it was very gratifying to have obtained good results in our first participation. It was a challenge, we measured ourselves against teams with a lot of experience and we took away with us a good taste of the competition, which gives us more hunger to want to compete at the international level," says Francisco Javier Olguín.
For the first time, the Concrete Frisbee Technical Competition was opened, in which the students made a mold with a concrete mixture adding a particular dosage to achieve greater resistance. The students Aruma Hernandez, Rafael Jimenez and Enrique Hicks won the silver medal.
"In this OlimpiANEIC I had many mixed feelings; sadness because it is my last edition as a delegate of the Universidad Panamericana to ANEIC Mexico, but very excited to get second place in the concrete Frisbees competition. It was and continues to be very gratifying that thanks to our performance and not having previous experience - being the first time this competition is held in our country - we managed to win second place nationally," says student Aruma Hernandez.
Finally, second semester student Celina Vázquez won the silver medal in the Academic Construction Competition.
"This experience was very nice and pleasant. It was a surprise to have won second place in the academic construction competition, being the first time I attended," says Celina.
It is worth mentioning that they also participated in concrete cube design, stick bridge and wall erection competitions.
