Mexico City, October 9, 2024.- The Interdisciplinary Group for Feminist Studies (GIEF) of the University of Mexico, supported by the Research Promotion Fund 2023, organized the third edition of the GIEF Conference, entitled Universidad Panamericanasupported by the Fund for the Promotion of Research 2023, organized the third edition of the GIEF Conference entitled Rethinking Feminisms: Feminist Ethics for the New TimesThe event was held virtually on February 29, February 7, March 7, March 14 and March 21, 2024.

The objective of this academic meeting was to present advances in two important research projects: Innovation in Inclusion: work-family-personal harmonization from a person-centered feminism. y The formation of virtues from a person-centered feminism..

During this conference, national and international academics presented a series of reflections and proposals on feminist ethics, highlighting the importance of virtues as tools for social change. The debates revolved around the need to integrate feminism in the personal, work and family spheres, always with a focus on human dignity and co-responsibility between men and women.

Main contributions of the conference

In the first session, held on February 29, speakers Diana Ibarra, Teresa Compte Grau, Natalia Stengel and Teresa Cuevas opened the dialogue on the role of virtue within feminist discourse, stressing that virtue empowers those who practice it, turning them into agents of change.

The third session, held on March 14, focused on two key virtues: hope and love. The speakers Tere Compte and Zara Hernández, inspired by the works of Iris Murdoch y Simone Weilexplored how love can be integrated into feminist ethics, providing a meaningful social dimension. On the other hand, Jeannine Dalma, Diana Ibarra and Isabel Gamboa highlighted hope as an active and fundamental virtue to promote social change within feminism.

Finally, on March 21, the closing of the conference was marked by a reflection on feminism, tolerance and empathy. Ana Fernández and Cristy Rodríguez highlighted the importance of managing pain in a way that promotes social reconstruction rather than revenge, while Fernanda Crespo and Grace Guerrero addressed the issue of resilience as an active response to adversity.

Relevance of the Conference

This event not only contributed to the academic discussion on person-centered feminism, but also highlighted the need to continue working for inclusion, equality and co-responsibility.
