On August 15, the String Ensemble of the Colima Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Carlos Viriligio Mendoza Universidad Panamericana the Concert of the String Ensemble of the Colima Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Carlos Viriligio Mendoza took place. Our guests shared their talent and passion for music with our beloved UP Choir. This event took place in the framework of the inauguration of the Rector Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade.
Shared Harmonies
The guest orchestra and the UP Choir, who are part of the Art and Culture Department, presented their concert at the Santander Auditorium under the name "Harmonies of a New Cycle"; teachers, students and collaborators attended and had the opportunity to experience and share the harmony of music.
The event began with the words of Director Carlos Virgilio Mendoza, who recognized the effort of all the participants and thanked the audience for their presence. The String Ensemble of the Colima Philharmonic Orchestra amazed the audience with pieces such as "Cinema Paradiso" and "Por una Cabeza", the synchrony between the musicians was amazing, creating a magical atmosphere for all present.
The UP Choir joined in with musical pieces such as: "Lacrimosa", "Ode To The Joy", "Hallelujah" and "Bésame Mucho". The performance of "Hallelujah" was especially moving, each note and verse filled the audience with emotions.
Music Transcends
The music was not limited to the concert; that same afternoon, the Orchestra had an open-door rehearsal at the Poliforum of the University in order to prepare for the Concert of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in Ciudad Guzmán and Colima. The rehearsal was attended by 60 musicians and 50 vocalists from the guest choir.
Musical Leaders
In an interview, conductor Carlos Virgilio Mendoza shared how he describes the connection between the conductor, the musicians and the music during the performance; he commented that it is something extraordinary and difficult to explain, "it is an emotional bond, a kind of dance between all the participants, which turns out to be the particular charm of the relationship".
The visit of the Colima Philharmonic Orchestra and the BEATUM Choir marks the beginning of a cultural alliance with Universidad Panamericana from which future collaborations and exchanges of knowledge and experiences are expected.
