TAPATIO ARTIST'S EXHIBITION REPRESENTS MEXICAN PRIDE

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco;

The best moment for me in this exhibition has been to see students having experiences with one of my pieces, either because they are reading what it is about, taking pictures, or just standing and watching, that was my goal, to cause those special moments that you can have with a work," says Simon Quintero, author of the exhibition, "My Mexico".

Thanks to the efforts of the Art and Culture Department, the exhibition "My Mexico" by the artist Simón Quintero was inaugurated throughout the central building of the Universidad Panamericana, Guadalajara Campus.

The private event was attended by more than 30 guests, including family and friends of the artist, as well as the director of the Department of Art and Culture, Dr. Ignacio Acosta, who together with the artist gave the inaugural speech, cutting the ribbon to mark the beginning of the exhibition.

The collection consists of 16 oil paintings, where Quintero captured his vision of Mexico and its cultural and natural elements, such as the agave, merging with famous works and places recognized in the art world.

"It all started when I was studying abroad and nobody knew what an agave was and that caused in me an inspiration to want to show it off, I started taking pictures in Tequila, Jalisco and then I started painting what became the best collection I have ever made," commented Simón Quintero.

The artist made a donation to Panamericana of one of the works from his collection, called "Matisse's Dance in Jalisco", to convey to the entire university community the message that Mexico is present in the history of art and that Mexico has much to boast and show.
