Guadalajara, Jalisco; December 8.—The Universidad Panamericana its presence at the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) 2025 as a leader in academic dialogue, educational innovation, and humanistic commitment.
From booth I-28, our university presented more than 50 activities focused on major contemporary challenges: humanities and technology education, academic publishing, culture, and sustainability.

Humanistic Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
As part of the FIL, the Universidad Panamericana System highlighted its leadership in the ethical and educational analysis of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The Forum Artificial Intelligence, Professional Education, and Research: Challenges and Opportunities for Universitiesbrought together Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay, President of the UP-IPADE System; Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade, Dean of the Guadalajara Campus; and Antonio de los Reyes Moreno, Dean of the Aguascalientes Campus, who shared their vision on the responsible integration of AI in higher education.

The message was clear: technology should enhance teacher guidance and critical thinking, without losing sight of the centrality of the individual and the pursuit of the common good.
The Future of Academic Publishing
The Information Professionals Forum, held on December 1, addressed the challenges of academic publishing in the digital age. Moderated by César Saavedra, M.A., editorial director at the Universidad Panamericana, the forum featured international experts such as Catalina Ramírez Ajiaco (Universidad de La Sabana, Colombia), Javier Balibrea (Universidad de Navarra, Spain), and Dr. Manuel Bernal, director of the Universidad Panamericana Library System.
Among the key topics, the following stood out:
- The need to break down academic insularity by promoting publications that address real social needs.
- The commercial viability of university presses without compromising their academic mission.
- Innovation in digital formats, incorporating multimedia and new distribution models.
The panelists agreed that professionalizing publishing is key to universities remaining relevant and competitive in the production of knowledge.
Education and Culture from a Christian Perspective
Another of the most well-attended presentations featured the Collection of Church Teaching Documents on Culture, Education, and Sports (1964–2024), a compendium that brings together six decades of the Church’s educational thought.

The event was attended by education and church officials, including Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes, Secretary of Education for Jalisco, who highlighted the text’s importance for the training of teachers and educational leaders in Mexico.
A FIL with a purpose
During the nine days of activities, the Universidad Panamericana booth Universidad Panamericana a hub for literature, science, technology, and humanism. Among the highlights, the dean of the Guadalajara campus, Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade, shared his thoughts on the book Before You Go, Remember to Live! by Hugo Cuesta, analyzing authentic leadership through the lens of vulnerability.
“I had the opportunity to take a course at Harvard focused on a concept they now call authentic leadership, and to talk about authentic leadership, one has to start precisely with vulnerability. What I did was analyze this book from that perspective of vulnerability,” explained Dr. Abraham Mendoza.
He added: “So, based on that premise, the story Hugo tells us in this book is a clear example of how to harness vulnerability so that we, too, can find the courage to reflect on and delve deeper into issues that are truly very important.”
Another event held at this booth was the book presentation Two Eulogies in honor of Fray Antonio Alcalde y Barriga, which was led by Ms. Martha Vallejo, Canon Rev. J. Guadalupe Dueñas Gómez, Rev. Rubén Rodríguez Balderas, and Mr. Jorge Peña Landeros.
Sustainability and Environmental Commitment
As part of its commitment to social and environmental responsibility, the Universidad Panamericana the Map of Best Water-Adaptive Practices, an initiative of the Observatory of Water-Adaptive Cities, led by Dr. Hugo Briseño Ramírez.

The project showcases innovative water management strategies implemented around the world, with the aim of replicating sustainable models in local contexts.
The presentation was attended by Dr. Briseño Ramírez and Carlos Ornelas, M.A., the Observatory’s coordinator, who outlined the scope of this project.
