Aguascalientes, Ags., December 17, 2025.— Once again, the dance team from the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes campus reaffirmed its artistic and competitive excellence by placing the hip-hop, jazz and pom in the top 3 at the ONP National Championship, a testament to the talent, discipline, and unwavering commitment of their students and coaching staff.
College talent that goes beyond the national stage
Universidad Panamericana ’s hip-hop, jazz, and pom-pom dance teams once again shone at the competition organized by the National Cheerleading Organization—the country’s most prestigious national dance competition, where the best schools and academies from across the nation gather each year.
The results were as follows: third place in the women’s hip-hop category, second place in the jazz B category, and third place in the pom-pom B category—achievements that reinforce the prestige of the Universidad Panamericana in the field of college dance.
“ONP 2025 was an experience that allowed me to get to know myself deeply, improve my skills as a dancer, and strengthen my bond with my teammates. I felt a sense of sisterhood and immense affection from my team, which was key to bringing out the best in us and reaching that level of performance,” said Julieta Yáñez, a third-semester Education major and member of the hip-hop team.
Artistic and Competitive Growth
In addition to the podium finishes, this year marked a significant step forward for the pom and jazz teams, which earned promotion to Category B, considered one of the most demanding in the championship. This achievement represents significant technical and artistic growth for both teams and confirms the steady progress of their training programs.
“For me, participating in ONP for the first time was an emotional journey filled with excitement to showcase all the work and effort we’d put in over many months. I experienced the joy of doing what I love most alongside my teammates, as well as the satisfaction and pride of giving it my all on stage, realizing just how much we’ve grown as a team,” shared Kiara Kovacevik, a second-semester student in International Business and Administration and a member of the pom/jazz team.
The pom and jazz teams are led by coaches Adalya Puente and Pedro Arredondo and are made up of the following students: Sara Ruiz, Lucero Hermoso, Sofía Aguilar, Gabriela Miranda, Nadia Mendoza, Camila Gutiérrez, Samantha Iñiguez, Angie Calvillo, Meredith Romero, Fátima Reyes, and Kiara Kovacevik.
For its part, the hip-hop team, led by coach Gary Ochoa, consists of Fátima Ruiz, Roxanna Jiménez, Katia Fragozo, Julieta Yáñez, Andrea Cobourne, María Dolores Figueroa, and Itzel Galaviz.
Excellence and a Well-Rounded Education at the UP
With these results, the Aguascalientes campus of the National Institute of Sports ( Universidad Panamericana ) closes out 2025 with an extraordinary season, adding to the achievements made throughout the year in high-level competitions such as the World School Championship, held in Orlando, Florida, as well as in tournaments organized by CONADEIP in Monterrey, Nuevo León.
These achievements reaffirm the Universidad Panamericana ’s commitment to a well-rounded education, student leadership, and excellence in the arts and athletics.
