The Art and Culture Department at the Guadalajara Campus of the Universidad Panamericana , is presenting the exhibition *Paseo Perrón* by artist Sofía Crimen at its facilities.
ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; November 15, 2022.— Officials from the Zapopan City Council and the University of the State of Jalisco ( Universidad Panamericana), along with the sculptor, Sofía Crimen, gathered in front of the Central Building to inaugurate the exhibition on the university’s esplanade. The artist has been exhibiting her work for several weeks; the exhibition, formally titled “Paseo Perrón,” features 29 life-size dog sculptures in various poses, all with a highly realistic and natural appearance. Crimen has already presented her work at various AMG venues in recent years, and it will now be on display at the Panamericana campus through the last week of January 2023.
Culture as the Cornerstone of Social Transformation
Before the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the exhibition’s opening was officially marked with remarks by Christopher de Alba, Director of Culture for the City of Zapopan, who highlighted how the exhibition originated during the lockdown resulting from the 2020 health crisis, noting that it serves as a way to raise awareness about pet care and the relationship between pets and people.
Veterinary Doctor Yamilet Lofte delivered a message highlighting the culture of life and our responsibility to foster a healthy relationship with nature, with a special emphasis on pets, which in many cases become an invaluable source of support within families. Dr. Rocío Ruíz, Director of University Life, also emphasized that caring for nature and life is a fundamental part of human values and, above all, highlighted the relationship we have with pets and the benefits they bring to people.
Sergio Matos, director of the May Cultural Festival and a cultural promoter, noted that this exhibition has been seen by more than 100,000 people at its various venues and that he is confident it will mark the beginning of an important partnership with the Universidad Panamericana for various joint activities.
Finally , María Gómez Rueda, General Coordinator of Community Development, spoke on behalf of Juan José Frangie, mayor of Zapopan, thanking the “ Universidad Panamericana ” for providing spaces that bring people closer to culture, as these activities benefit the entire community; She called for these collaborations to continue, noting that the underlying message of an exhibition like “Paseo Perrón” plays a significant role in fostering awareness, respect, and responsibility, making it a very positive development for the community.
