Celebrating the 5th Anniversary of the UP Court

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; December 1, 2023.— The Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Universidad Panamericana celebrated the fifth anniversary of its professional soccer field, a milestone in its sporting history. The event, which included awards and words of gratitude, highlighted the achievements and impact this facility has had in the fields of sports and education.

During the celebration, a timeline was presented highlighting the stadium’s most memorable moments since its opening in October 2018. Among these were visits from renowned teams such as Chivas, Atlas, Pumas, América, Cruz Azul, and Rayados de Monterrey, among others, which have cemented our stadium’s reputation. 

Gratitude and Appreciation

“It was an honor for us to have the unconditional support of our alumni, who, alongside their beloved coach, Jorge ‘Ché’ Correa, spearheaded this project.” These were the words of María Fernanda Reynoso Rivero, Assistant Director of the University’s Development Office, who presided over the ceremony, thanking the donors, alumni, business leaders, and partners whose support made the construction of this iconic field possible. She acknowledged the effort and commitment of companies and key individuals in bringing this sporting dream to life. The field meets FIFA regulation dimensions (105 x 68 meters) and features natural grass, with a blend of Bermuda Celebration for summer and Rye Grass for winter.

 

Gratitude and Appreciation

The event was attended by major donors and leading companies that contributed to the “Regresa el Balón” campaign, promoting their brands within the university community through the installation of billboards.

Dr. José Antonio Esquivias Romero, President of the Universidad Panamericana GuadalajaraUniversidad Panamericana , shared a heartfelt message thanking everyone in attendance and highlighting the importance of the sports field in the students’ well-rounded development.

Prominent figures such as Mr. Antonio Lara Barragán, who, in memory of his wife, Mrs. Patricia Margarita Ortega Ramos, shared her desire to leave the family’s legacy to the Panamericana as a token of gratitude and commitment to our university for all that this institution has meant to them, thereby leaving his mark on the university community by making the construction of this important facility a reality.  For his part, Mr. José Francisco Baeza of Brown Forman delivered a message on behalf of all the companies partnering on this project, highlighting the work the University has done to provide its students with the best facilities and, above all, an education grounded in values. Finally, Coach Jorge “Ché” Correa expressed his gratitude to everyone who helped bring this sports facility to life.

The day concluded with the taking of the event’s official photo, marking a symbolic moment for the University. Attendees enjoyed a friendly soccer match, where friends and alumni came together to celebrate the field’s first five years.
