Aguascalientes, Ags. October 3, 2023.- For the past three years, the Panamericana campus Aguascalientes has hosted national archery tournaments, however, the first edition was organized by the National Council for Sports in Education (Consejo Nacional del Deporte de la Educación, CONDDE).CONDDE) where students from public and private institutions participated.

Last year was the first edition of this tournament organized by the Comisión Nacional Deportiva Estudiantil de Instituciones Privadas (CONADEIP).CONADEIP), that is to say, at a national level, where different institutions were involved; this tournament had the purpose of making archery an official sport before the governmental Commission.

"The Universidad Panamericana is the first university that is trying to make archery an official sport before CONADEIP," says Rodolfo Gonzalez, archery coach .

History of Archery in the Pan American Games

The combined efforts of Dr. Gabriel García Domínguez, Panamericana's rector at the time, Dr. Jorge Franco López, Luis Enrique "Lucho" Rejas, Sports Coordinator, coach Rodolfo González and the now alumnus Rodolfo "Fito" González de Alba, have driven the initiative to make archery a sport that can excel at the university.

We also highlight the great performance of "Fito" Gonzalez, first archer athlete of our Aguascalientes campus and engineer in Energy Technologies, who thanks to his talent and discipline became world champion, as he was the third place representing the university in the World Universiade Naples 2019.

"I try to give that back to archery, bringing kids who don't have the economic capacity to study at UP and through archery, they can find a good university," says coach Rodolfo Gonzalez.

Currently, the Aguascalientes campus already has seven engineering graduates who received scholarships through this sport.
