Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, August 8, 2025.—Over time, internationalization has become a cornerstone of university life. At the Universidad Panamericana, this vision is brought to life through a solid, coordinated, and constantly evolving strategy that brings global experiences to the entire university community.
A Strategic Perspective on Internationalization
Since its creation, the Office of International Affairs has promoted international opportunities for students at the Universidad Panamericana. Starting in 2020, upon being recognized as one of the five “I’s” , internationalization has taken on a strategic and cross-cutting role.
This vision has been reinforced by the 2025–2029 Internationalization Plan, whose objective is clear: to offer a well-rounded university experience in which students graduate with global competencies or an international mindset, in line with the institution’s philosophy.
At the same time, this strategy aims to provide faculty members and their collaborators with access to meaningful international experiences, thereby promoting the internationalization of the entire university community.
Internationalization Hubs: Coordination, Impact, and Community
One of the most significant advances in this strategy has been the creation of the Internationalization Hubs, a collaborative structure that facilitates operational coordination across campuses, promotes regular meetings, the sharing of resources, and the creation of synergies among schools.
As a result, the University of the Andes ( Universidad Panamericana ) currently has more than 245 active agreements, placing it at the top among other institutions at the national and regional levels.
In addition to facilitating academic mobility and cooperation, the hubs have made it possible to establish clear impact indicators, co-created with the schools and faculties.
This metric has been key to making informed decisions and expanding the scope of our actions, always with an inclusive approach and a focus on continuous improvement.
Academic Mobility: New Pathways to Global Engagement
Universidad Panamericana has significantly expanded its mobility programs. While the semester-long exchange program remains one of the most well-known options, it is no longer the only one. Currently, students can participate in short-term programs, virtual experiences such as COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning), and courses taught in English that connect them with international contexts from their own campuses.
Each year, about 400 students participate in semester-long exchange programs, and another 400 take part in short-term programs, dual-degree programs, competitions, internships, academic tracks, research projects, and language courses.
Today, outbound student mobility accounts for about 6.5 % of enrollment, a figure higher than the Latin American average, estimated at 1 %. For its part, the University of the Pacific ( Universidad Panamericana ) welcomes more than 170 international students annually to its various campuses, thereby strengthening the multicultural environment in the classrooms.
The Aguascalientes Campus leads the UP System’s Faculty Mobility Hub, with the goal of strengthening its faculty members’ participation in international academic experiences, both outgoing and incoming.
This initiative promotes the participation of the institution's faculty in global programs and enables more students to take classes taught by foreign professors, enriching their learning experience with a multicultural perspective.
As a result, last summer, 76 international professors taught classes—both in person and online—to more than 3,000 students across the university.
In addition, each year about 50 local teachers participate in study abroad programs, and over the past three years, more than 150 COILs have been conducted, reaching more than 3,000 students.
Internationalization at Home: Access for All
One of the Universidad Panamericana 's top priorities is to ensure that all students have access to international experiences, even without having to travel.
This “internationalization at home” takes the form of courses taught in English (more than 680 COIL programs), classes with visiting professors, and events with a global focus.
This vision reflects a global context in which global competencies such as global citizenship, resilience, critical thinking, empathy, and intercultural communication are highly valued by employers.
According to the World Economic Forum's " Future of Jobs Report 2025," 67% of employers prioritize these skills when hiring talent.
Cultural Diversity: A Skill That Is Developed
Internationalization not only broadens academic horizons, but also fosters an open-minded, empathetic, and collaborative mindset.
Through the various experiences offered by the university—whether through exchange programs, classes taught by international faculty, courses taught in English, or collaborative online projects—students develop intercultural skills that prepare them to interact in diverse environments.
Universidad Panamericana promotes inclusive internationalization, where every student has the opportunity to develop a global perspective through their academic experience.
Beyond physical mobility, the goal is to integrate an international perspective into daily university life, thereby fostering a community capable of engaging in dialogue, collaborating, and growing in an interconnected world.
