Aguascalientes, Ags., November 17, 2024.— The Universidad Panamericana, Aguascalientes campus successfully participated in the Scholas Chairs Congress 2024, represented by Paola Barba Segovia, M.A., dean of the School of Education and Psychology, and student Ana María Patiño Piña, a student in the Bachelor’s Program in Educational Psychology.
This prestigious international event, held in Bucharest, Romania, brought together universities from around the world, along with ministers of education from Israel, Brazil, and Romania. With the central theme of “bringing the periphery to the center”, projects were presented focused on listening to and addressing the needs of different communities, generating transformative strategies in the field of education.
Educational Innovation Through Educational Psychology
The participation of the Universidad Panamericana focused on the presentation of the Integrative Projects Model developed at the School of Education and Psychology, illustrated by an innovative project led by Ana María Patiño and her colleagues Mariana Camou and Melissa Miranda.
This project addresses Hospital Psychopedagogy, exploring how it can be applied in diverse contexts and with people of various ages. The initiative included interviews with adult cancer patients to identify factors that strengthened their resilience and their support networks. Based on this information, an picture book illustrated by the patients themselves, designed with educational elements that can be adapted to the reader’s age.
“Being able to share this project on an international level was very meaningful to me. It gave me ideas and motivation to improve both the project and the school’s current model,”, said the student.
Bonaterra Community Project
For her part, Ms. Barba participated in a panel of education, where she presented the Bonaterra Community and shared ideas on how to build a more just and caring society starting in the classroom. The goal of this project is to transform Comunidad Bonaterra into a Scholas space, where, in the summer, students from other universities can implement transformative projects in the region.
“Our participation in the conference is in response to a request from Pope Francis and allowed us to connect with other universities that share our commitment. Furthermore, we were able to position the Universidad Panamericana as a leader in international collaboration projects”, said the dean.
