UP explores research opportunities with Australia

Mexico City, May 31, 2024. Universidad Panamericana was privileged to host a meeting focused on exploring the opportunities and challenges of international research collaboration between Australia and Mexico, in an event coordinated jointly with the Australian Embassy Education Office in Mexico, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and the University of Southern Queensland.

International strategic partnerships

Dr. Ren Yi, Vice Chancellor International at the University of Southern Queensland was the keynote speaker at this meeting. In his presentation, he addressed the Australian government's research and innovation strategies, emphasizing the crucial role of the Australian Research Council (ARC) and the assessment capabilities of Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA).

This event highlighted the importance of strategic international partnerships in research. Dr. Yi illustrated the substantial economic return on research investment in Australia, where every dollar invested generates AUD $3.32.

His presentation on best practices at the University of Southern Queensland provided valuable lessons on how to effectively manage and leverage international research collaborations.

Representatives from distinguished educational institutions such as UNAM, IPN, UAM, Universidad Anáhuac, Universidad de las Américas Puebla. AMEXCID and SEP, whose participation underscored the collective commitment to foster international research ties within the academic community in Mexico.

Panamericana seeks to become a university of research and influence. To achieve this, the Office of the Vice Rector General for Research has been created to plan and execute strategies to create a sustainable research and innovation environment.

This seeks to strengthen the skills of our academics and students and promote the generation of knowledge with high value and social impact.
