UP explores research opportunities with Australia

Mexico City, May 31, 2024.— On May 21, the Universidad Panamericana had the privilege of hosting a meeting focused on exploring the opportunities and challenges of international research collaboration between Australia and Mexico, in an event coordinated jointly with the Education Office of the Australian Embassy in Mexico, the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), and the University of Southern Queensland.

International Strategic Partnerships

Dr. Ren Yi, Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs at the University of Southern Queensland, was the keynote speaker at this event. In his presentation, he discussed the Australian government’s research and innovation strategies, emphasizing the crucial role of the Australian Research Council (ARC) and the evaluation capabilities of the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative.

This event highlighted the importance of international strategic partnerships in research. Dr. Yi illustrated the substantial economic return on investment in research in Australia, where every dollar invested generates AUD $3.32.

His presentation on best practices at the University of Southern Queensland provided valuable insights into how to effectively manage and leverage international research collaborations.

The event was attended by representatives from distinguished educational institutions such as UNAM, IPN, UAM, Anáhuac University, and the University of the Americas Puebla, as well as AMEXCID and the SEP, whose participation underscored the collective commitment to fostering international research ties within Mexico’s academic community.
