Mexico City; June 9, 2026.— The Universidad Panamericana reaffirms its commitment to scientific internationalization and attracting external funding, consolidating its presence in Europe and strengthening strategic partnerships with leading institutions.
Through the Office of the Vice President for Research (VGI), the National Autonomous University of Mexico ( Universidad Panamericana ) actively participated in the events commemorating 200 years of diplomatic relations between Mexico and France, strengthening its presence in Europe and expanding its networks of academic and scientific collaboration.
Leadership at the Franco-Mexican Forum on Higher Education and Research
The University of the State of San Luis Potosí ( Universidad Panamericana ) participated in the fourth edition of the Franco-Mexican Forum on Cooperation in Higher Education and Research, held at Sciences Po Lille in France. The event brought together academic leaders, researchers, and institutional representatives to strengthen bilateral scientific cooperation, academic mobility, and access to international funding programs.
The Office of the Vice President for Research was represented at key forums for dialogue through specialized panels:
- Abraham Baltazar León Soto, M.A., Head of Institutional Research, participated as a speaker on the panel for Workshop 1.2: How Can We Strengthen Our Joint Participation in European Programs and Funding? The session focused on the challenges and opportunities presented by programs such as Horizon Europe and Erasmus+, as well as the importance of building international consortia and strengthening technical capacities for the management of sustainable projects.
- For his part, Dr. Hiram Ponce, director of the Center for Innovation and Technological Development, played a key role at the Workshop 4.3: Strengthening Research and Training Networks in Artificial Intelligence, High-Performance Computing, and Mathematics, offering the institution’s vision and leadership in the development of cutting-edge technologies.
Strategic Partnerships for Bilateral Research
Collaboration with French institutions is a key component of the University of the West of Spain ( Universidad Panamericana) scientific internationalization strategy.
These partnerships enable the institution to become part of global research agendas, facilitate academic mobility, and gain access to international funding mechanisms aimed at addressing complex challenges through multidisciplinary approaches.
Success and Scientific Excellence: Winners of the ECOS NORD Call for Proposals
As a result of this strategy to foster international partnerships and attract external funding, the Institute of Geology and Geophysics ( Universidad Panamericana ) was selected for the ECOS NORD-SECIHTI 2026–2029 call for proposals, one of the most significant programs for scientific cooperation between Mexico and France.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the outstanding contribution of Dr. Javier Estrada Mena, a research professor at the Molecular Biology Laboratory of the School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences.
The winning project, which focuses on the study of the pathological mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, will be carried out in collaboration with a consortium of institutions and research centers of international excellence:
- Université Paris-Saclay, through the Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience (NeuroPSI), in collaboration with Dr. Cyrille Vaillend.
- Institut de la Vision Paris (affiliated with INSERM) in collaboration with Dr. Alvaro Rendon.
- Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (Cinvestav), in collaboration with Dr. Cecilia Montañéz.
