We are proud to announce that the Universidad Panamericana has been granted its fifth patent, marking a significant milestone in our research and development trajectory. The Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) has recognized our innovation in the field of biodegradable materials by granting the patent for the "Polylactic acid polymeric matrix injection process.".

This achievement represents a technical breakthrough, enabling an effective solution to sustainability challenges in the packaging industry. The patent solves the need to develop biodegradable active plastic packaging that, through extrusion and injection processes, allows the controlled release of antimicrobials and antifungals.

The team of inventors from the Guadalajara campus, led by Friné Velázquez Contreras, from the School of Hospitality, and Héctor Rubén Acevedo Parra, from the School of Engineering, are a testimony to the commitment of Universidad Panamericana to applied innovation and collaborative research with industry.
This project is part of the University's Innovation and Transfer strategy, led by the General Vice-Rector's Office for Research. Dr. Juan Alberto González Piñón, Corporate Director, highlighted the fundamental role of Panamericana's Intellectual Property Management Center, whose purpose is to support and facilitate the processes of management and protection of intellectual property of inventions resulting from scientific research conducted by our researchers. We remain committed to the promotion of university talent and the creation of solutions that not only promote scientific knowledge, but also contribute significantly to the resolution of relevant social problems.

We celebrate this new success and reaffirm our leadership in research and innovation, strengthening the impact of Universidad Panamericana nationally and internationally in science and technology.
