Pedagogical values and entrepreneurship

Aguascalientes, Ags., July 23, 2024.— Dr. Javier Fernández de Castro de León and his research: evaluation of teaching methodologies for values education (the “Learning to Love” Program) and entrepreneurship education (3e Entrepreneurship Methodologies).

Dr. Fernández de Castro, Director of Research at the School of Education and Psychology at the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes Universidad Panamericana , has worked on two research projects that aim not only to generate scientific knowledge but also to inform decision-making in ways that promote personal and social development. Below is some information about these two studies conducted in the field of education and teaching.

“Learning to Love” Program

The “Aprendiendo a Querer” Comprehensive Development Program seeks to educate children, adolescents, and young adults from a holistic perspective, focusing on fostering their freedom and strengthening their character through values-based education, with an emphasis on citizenship education to build a democratic society. It operates in 23 countries, and its materials have been translated into 9 languages.

In 2022, Red Familia A.C., an association licensed to operate the PAaQ in Mexico, requested an evaluation of the program’s operational effectiveness, efficiency, efficacy, and relevance. The School developed a project involving 59 teachers, 489 parents, and 9 students from various states across Mexico. The results helped identify the program’s strengths and areas for improvement, which guided Red Familia A.C. in making decisions to enhance the program.

For its part, the School presented the study at the 2nd International Educare+Educere Congress 2022, organized by the Ibero-American Network for Teacher Education. A chapter from the book was also published.

3e Methodology: “More Education, More Entrepreneurship Equals Success”

The 3e Methodology was designed by the National 3e Institute (“Educate More, Entrepreneurship Equals Success”), founded in 2009 in the city of Zacatecas, winner of the National Entrepreneurship Award in 2016, and recognized in 2018 by the Ministry of Public Education as one of fourteen authorized external providers permitted to offer its materials within the country’s public institutions.

In 2023, the Institute commissioned an evaluative study on the effectiveness, efficiency, and relevance of the methodology, following a pilot test conducted by the Aguascalientes Institute of Education in seven secondary schools. The results validated the quality of the methodology and guided the development of improvement strategies. This study will be presented at the International University Congress on Communication, Innovation, Research, and Teaching (CUICIID 2024) and in a scientific article scheduled for publication in 2025 in a scientific journal indexed in Scopus.

These projects demonstrate the commitment of the School of Education and Psychology at the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes Universidad Panamericana to generating scientific knowledge and applying it to real-world situations in order to make a genuine impact on individuals and society.
