April 26, 2023. In the framework of the LXXXIV Assembly of the Federation of Mexican Private Higher Education Institutions (FIMPES), which took place last Friday, April 21, 2023, the Dr. José Antonio Esquivias Romerothe rector of the Guadalajara campus, received, on behalf of the Universidad Panamericana the Academic Integrity Distinction Level 1, which endorses the great commitment to create a culture of integrity at all levels of our institution.
About FIMPES
The Federation of Private Mexican Institutions of Higher Education is a non-profit civil association of voluntary affiliation that groups 114 Private Institutions of Higher Education, with more than 880,000 students enrolled in more than 400 university campuses located in 31 states of the country.
Its purpose is to contribute to improving the quality of education of its affiliates, as well as to represent the interests of its members and the members of their communities in order to serve Mexico.
Culture of integrity
The objective of the FIMPES Academic Integrity distinction is to encourage HEIs to implement a culture of integrity at all levels of the organization. To date, only 14 of the 114 institutions affiliated to the federation have this distinction.
In this edition, in addition to Panamericana, institutions such as the Universidad Marista de San Luis Potosí and the Universidad Latina de México received recognition.
The methodology used to rate the institutions was by means of a questionnaire, which at Panamericana was answered by at least 30% of the undergraduate students (third semester or fourth quarter onwards).
With this questionnaire, a student perception study was conducted to determine the level of commitment of the UP to the promotion of academic integrity, from which very good results were obtained.
For Universidad Panamericana, this recognition serves as evidence of the university's commitment to practices that promote honesty, trust, fairness, respect and responsibility at all levels of the institution.
