The Conquest of Maturity: reflection for a full life

Mexico City, November 20, 2024.— The Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City campus, welcomed the authors of the book The Conquest of Maturity, the Father Francisco Ugarte Corcuera and Dr. José Antonio Lozano Díez, president of the UP-IPADE Governing Board.

The event brought together academic leaders, students, and members of the public interested in exploring holistic maturity as a path to a fulfilling life in a complex and ever-changing world.

A book for personal reflection and personal growth

Dr. Lozano, a co-author of the book, emphasized the crucial role of maturity as a compass in a changing global environment. “Maturity is a path that leads us to make more balanced decisions, find purpose in our lives, and achieve happiness in all its dimensions. This book is intended to be a guide for facing the challenges posed by modern society, he said.

For his part, Father Ugarte explained that the book is based on a framework that analyzes ten fundamental aspects of holistic maturity, which later evolved into an in-depth analysis. “From the very beginning, our goal was to offer clear and practical tools so that people can assess their own maturity and grow in every aspect of their lives,”, he explained.

During her remarks, Dr. Virginia Aspe, a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, highlighted the philosophical depth of *The Conquest of Maturity*, noting that “the book invites us to reflect on life’s big questions, such as the meaning of existence and the pursuit of happiness. This book is not only a practical guide but also a text that encourages us to look beyond the immediate and to build a life of purpose and transcendence.”

For her part, Cecilia Canal, M.A., vice rector of the Mexico City campus, highlighted the book’s clear and accessible structure, noting that “it strikes a balance between theory and practice, making it relevant and understandable to a broad audience.” Each chapter not only identifies current problems but also proposes concrete solutions, making it a valuable tool for personal and professional growth.”

Meanwhile, journalist Leonardo Curzio praised the book’s depth and relevance, describing it as “a book written from a philanthropic perspective, which combines a precise analysis of contemporary society with a hopeful outlook.” It is a work that not only portrays today’s challenges but also inspires readers to reflect on their own personal and spiritual growth, offering tools to build a fuller and more meaningful life.”

Academic Reflections on Maturity

The Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, rector of the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City campus, offered an interpretation of the book’s content, highlighting its innovative structure and comprehensive approach. The book addresses maturity from interconnected perspectives—intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual—organized into concentric circles with the individual at their core. It is a text that combines in-depth theory with practical solutions, he noted.

In addition, Dr. García reflected on the importance of intellectual maturity in the university setting: “Universities should not only provide their students with technical training, but also help them ask the big questions in life: Who am I? What do I want to achieve? What values guide my decisions? This book invites us to rediscover that essential dimension of education.”

A book that transcends generations

During the event, it was emphasized that *The Conquest of Maturity* is a text with intergenerational relevance, since it addresses maturity as a continuous process that transcends the stages of life. The book invites readers to reflect on the potential and challenges of each moment, helping readers find purpose in their daily decisions and actions.

Father Ugarte concluded the event by thanking the “ Universidad Panamericana ” and those in attendance: “It has been moving to see how this work has resonated with so many people. I hope it can inspire you to reflect, grow, and live a full and fulfilling life.”
