UP Launches "Echoes of Impact": A Dialogue with Leaders to Transform Business and Society

Mexico City, August 1, 2025.— The Universidad Panamericana Ecos de Impacto, a new business video podcast hosted by renowned leader and entrepreneur Álvaro Vértiz, with the aim of creating a space for in-depth and strategic analysis of the issues that are transforming business and society today.

The project was launched with the aim of providing professionals, business leaders, academics, and students with an in-depth analysis of the trends that are reshaping the business world. 

Through candid and insightful conversations with leading experts, *Ecos de Impacto* seeks to explore key topics such as growth strategies in volatile markets, transformational leadership, the technological revolution, corporate sustainability, and new financial and regulatory paradigms.

Valeria Moy: Mexico's Economic Development

The first episode features Valeria Moy, executive director of the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness (IMCO). In this episode, Moy analyzes the complex economic situation facing Mexico.

The expert breaks down the factors hindering the country's economic development, including external factors such as global uncertainty, as well as internal challenges related to low productivity and the lack of structural conditions necessary to drive sustained growth.

In addition, the director of IMCO analyzes how U.S. trade policy affects Mexico differently, creating what she calls “comparative advantages” in international trade.

Moy also shares his observations on the rapid pace of technological development in China, where artificial intelligence is being implemented in a disruptive way to optimize production processes.

This outlook stands in contrast to the energy challenges Mexico faces in adopting these technologies, an issue that undoubtedly raises questions about the country’s competitive future.

Eduardo Osuna: The Importance of Digitalization 

The second episode features Eduardo Osuna, vice president and CEO of BBVA Mexico. In the discussion, Osuna traces the evolution of banking from the 1994 crisis to the current digital transformation, revealing how a traditional institution has managed to reinvent itself to stay at the forefront.

Similarly, he is also alumnusof IPADE Business School shares details about the implementation of agile methodologies at BBVA, where 650 scrum that are constantly developing innovations.

Osuna also examines the challenge of financial inclusion in Mexico. Using compelling data, he explains how high levels of informality ( 55% of the economically active population) limit access to credit and perpetuate inequality

Given this situation, he proposes promoting the widespread digitization of payments, starting with the government’s social programs. This measure, he asserts, could serve as a key catalyst for modernizing the financial system and transforming the national economy.
