ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; June 29, 2023.- Last Sunday, June 11, the tennis activities at the National Universiade concluded, and it was a day of celebration for the Guadalajara Campus when its participating pair, made up of Jesús Martínez and Luis Morfín, won the gold medal in a thrilling final against TEC Monterrey. The competition, which took place in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora, had a spectacular closing with scores of 6-7, 6-4 and 10-7 in favor of the UP couple. Jesús Martínez, a fourth semester Administration and Finance student, and Luis Morfín, a ninth semester Administration and Management student, demonstrated their skill and determination in every point of the match.

"Likewise, it was very emotional because I had a very good season with Luis as my partner and this was our last tournament together because he is graduating this semester. As you might say, he was able to close his college career with a flourish and I'm very happy to have been a part of that. "

The match was tight and full of emotions, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats. With an exceptional level of play, Martinez and Morfin managed to overcome every obstacle and secured the victory for their university. But UP's success in tennis does not stop there. The pairing of Juan Pablo López, a second semester law student, and Vivian Tatam, a sixth semester administration and finance student, also shined in the mixed doubles competition. Both players showed an exceptional performance and won the bronze medal, adding another outstanding achievement for their institution.
