Zapopan, Jalisco, July 16, 2025.— The School of Communication at the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Universidad Panamericana signed a collaboration agreement with El Heraldo de México, one of the country’s most important media outlets with more than six decades of history.
The purpose of this strategic partnership is to expand opportunities for training, professional experience, and visibility for students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Journalism.
The signing of the agreement took place at the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Universidad Panamericana . The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Rafael Santana Marín, Dean of the School of Communication, and Mr. Óscar Herrera Castant, regional director of El Heraldo de México.

Also in attendance were Federico Torres López, M.A., director of the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and Journalism; and Alfredo Ceja Rodríguez, professor and host of the program De Frente en Jalisco; and Dr. Carlos López, vice-rector of the Universidad Panamericana, who served as witnesses to the agreement.

El Heraldo de México UP Scholarship
One of the most significant initiatives under the agreement is the creation of the El Heraldo de México UP Scholarship, intended for a first-year student in the Bachelor of Journalism program.
This scholarship will provide financial support and personalized guidance from the media outlet, with the aim of strengthening their academic training and facilitating their professional development within El Heraldo de México, as noted by Dr. Rafael Santana.
Key benefits for students
The agreement establishes a series of strategic benefits that strengthen the link between the academic sector and the media:
- Internships: Students will have the opportunity to complete a semester-long internship at El Heraldo de México, as well as a summer internship at its national headquarters in Mexico City.
- Practical course: Students in their final semester will have the opportunity to take a hands-on course directly at the facilities of El Heraldo de México, which will strengthen their skills and employability upon graduation.
- Panteras Journalism Award: El Heraldo will serve as a judge for this award, which aims to identify journalistic talent at the School of Communication, and will publicize the winning entries, providing greater visibility to the students and their projects.
Universities and the Media: A Partnership for the Future
This agreement will directly benefit more than 40 students at the School of Communication, and will be reviewed annually to accommodate student growth and active participation.
Furthermore, it reinforces the Universidad Panamericana ’s commitment Universidad Panamericana its students through a comprehensive education that combines theory and practice in real-world communication settings.
