ESDAI: a step forward in academic excellence

Mexico City, January 13, 2025.— The School of Hospitality at the Universidad Panamericana ESDAI) marks a milestone in the evaluation of its academic programs. For the first time, a representative group of students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management took the General Graduate Exam (EGEL) in Business Administration, orachieving outstanding results that underscore the quality of their comprehensive education and their preparation for the tourism sector.

What is EGEL, and why is it important?

The EGEL is a nationwide assessment administered to students nearing the completion of their undergraduate studies. Its primary objective is to determine whether graduates possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform competently in their professional field. 

This exam assesses both general and subject-specific competencies, enabling educational institutions and graduates themselves to gauge the level of preparation they have achieved.

The decision to implement EGEL at ESDAI stemmed from a student initiative: five years ago, students expressed their concern about the difficulties in finding employment in the sector. In response, ESDAI has worked tirelessly to strengthen its curriculum and adopted this external evaluation tool as a guarantee of quality and academic relevance.

Outstanding results

The 15% of the students evaluated achieved an outstanding score on the first administration of the EGEL in Business Administration, an achievement that highlights the solid training they receive in areas such as marketing, human resources, finance, and hospitality. 

Although the administration accounts for only 30% of the curriculum, the students demonstrated a high level of preparation, reaffirming the comprehensive approach of the Universidad Panamericana in training professionals for the tourism sector and hospitality.

A commitment to academic excellence academic

Claudia Galindo and Sofía Roux, faculty members at ESDAI, highlighted the importance of this evaluation as a benchmark of quality and an incentive to continue improving. The students María José Martínez, María Murillo, Daniela Alejandra Hernández, and Lourdes Acedo and Camila Sangri expressed their satisfaction with the results and thanked the organizers for the opportunity to demonstrate their skills.

For his part, the Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, president of the Universidad Panamericana Mexico City Universidad Panamericana , celebrated this achievement and emphasized:“The comprehensive education our students receive at ESDAI, covering areas such as marketing, HR, finance, and hospitality, prepares them to successfully tackle the challenges of the industry, all through the lens of hospitality.”
