Cipriano Manzanilla, a professor at UP GDL, has been appointed the new Anti-Corruption Prosecutor for Jalisco

Zapopan, Jalisco; January 23, 2026.— The Universidad Panamericana GuadalajaraUniversidad Panamericana celebrates the appointment of Eduardo Cipriano Manzanilla Aznarez, a faculty member of the School of Law, as the new head of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Corruption in the State of Jalisco.

This recognition reflects not only his distinguished legal career, but also the Universidad Panamericana commitment Universidad Panamericana training leaders of integrity who make a positive impact on society and public service.

A legacy of academic excellence

Eduardo Cipriano Manzanilla Aznarez is an alumnus of the Bachelor of Laws and Master of Public Law programs at the Universidad Panamericana. His solid legal training and his ethical vision of justice establish him as a leading figure in the promotion of legality and transparency within the state.

Throughout his academic career, he has helped train new generations of legal professionals by teaching key courses such as:

  • Introduction to Criminal Law
  • Theory of Crime
  • Specific Crimes
  • Criminal Procedure Law

A Commitment to Excellence

The appointment of Mr. Manzanilla marks a historic milestone, as he is the second faculty member from the Guadalajara campus to assume this position, succeeding Mr. Gerardo de la Cruz Tovar—also a graduate of the university and a professor at the Panamericana—who served as Jalisco’s first Anti-Corruption Prosecutor.

Meet Rector Abraham Mendoza Andrade

Following his appointment, the new federal anti-corruption prosecutor was welcomed by the Rector of the Guadalajara Campus of the Universidad Panamericana, Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade; the Dean of the School of Law, Dr. Isabel Álvarez; and other senior officials.

During the gathering, stories were shared, and memories were recalled of Maestro Eduardo Cipriano Manzanilla Aznarez’s time on campus; he expressed his gratitude for the support provided by his alma mater. 

“I hope not to let down the university, which has given me its support, or society at large,” said Mr. Manzanilla Aznarez, who frequently acknowledged his predecessor in the position, Mr. Gerardo de la Cruz Tovar.

For his part, Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade expressed great interest in what Mr. Manzanilla Aznarez had to say and recalled that they had attended the same university during their student years.
