ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; February 07, 2023. Humanities Department of the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara invites all undergraduate and graduate students, as well as all professors from any school or faculty of the University to participate in the XIV Universitas Forum.
XIV Universitas Forum
The Universitas Forum is an event designed for the community to express their points of view in writing, through reasoned essays on the theme proposed as the axis of discussion; this year's theme is "Virtue and Heroism".
In this edition, those interested will have the opportunity to present their reflections on the unity between virtues and heroism in its various forms. Faced with the multiple challenges and circumstances that we have faced as humanity in recent years, there is a need to know our role as university students. This call invites us to reflect on an exemplary life, while urging us to be a reference for the future life of the generations to come.
Virtue and Heroism
With the aim of inviting us to reflect on the relationship between virtue and heroism through the study of the lives of characters (real and/or fictitious), who have developed exemplary successful lives, in order to provide a positive framework for action to face the various situations of our daily lives.
The essay should study the virtuous life, either as a biography of the character or, if preferred, as an artistic representation in which the narrative of a successful life is highlighted.
The proposed narrative axes are: Exemplary Lives. A biographical review of virtues, The legacy of the saints, and finally, Fiction and heroism. The vision of the arts and popular culture on a life of a saint.
The Forum has two categories, with one winner each, which are divided into students, undergraduate or graduate students, and professors. Participants have the opportunity to register from January 30 to February 28.
Requirements
It should be emphasized that the papers must be the unpublished result of research, analysis and personal reflection, as well as being suitably written and argued, with a pertinent bibliography.
The essay must be submitted by April 10 at the latest. In the meantime, various courses and workshops are offered for reflection and writing of the essay. The results will be announced on May 5. The winners, who will receive a Macbook Air.
One of the reasons why Panamericana stands out is its humanistic education, that is why it is of great importance to promote thinking, analysis, exchange of ideas and problem solving. Thus encouraging its community to join the XIV edition of the UNIVERSITAS FORUM, aimed at the guild towards a more humane world.
