Compromiso Social carries out 21 high-impact events

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; December 18, 2023.— Universidad Panamericana ’s Guadalajara Campus has wrapped up 2023, a year in which the Social Engagement Department organized 21 high-impact events involving 5,046 volunteers from the university community.

Throughout the year, activities ranged from community service fairs to donation drives and campaigns to raise awareness about disabilities; trees were planted, donations were collected, and environmental and social awareness was promoted. Some of the most notable events were:

5th University Reforestation Initiative

Thanks to the efforts of 93 volunteers, a total of 150 trees were planted in Tala, Jalisco. This volunteer initiative was carried out in partnership with Bosque Urbano de Extra A.C.

Donation and Collection Campaigns

Six campaigns were carried out to support various causes and raise awareness among the university community about building a better world. In total, 7,326 donated items were collected thanks to the help of 368 volunteers.

Paper Recycling Campaigns

Two recycling campaigns were carried out , during which, with the help of 60 volunteers, 944.80 kilograms of paper, cardboard, and newspapers were collected, as well as 15 kilograms of PET bottle caps.

Social Service Organizations' Fairs

Two Social Service Institution Fairs were organized so that Panamericana students could learn about some of the institutions and projects with which the university has agreements for social service work. A total of 1,238 volunteers participated, and 68 social service institutions attended the events.

COLABORE Awareness Events

In order to foster an inclusive environment for people with disabilities within the university community, five events were organized to raise awareness about Down syndrome, autism, mobility impairments (including the use of wheelchairs ), and visual impairments. A total of 450 volunteers participated.

Christmas Under the Tree 2023

The seventh edition of the social project“Christmas Under the Tree”was made possible thanks to the generosity of 74 teachers, administrative staff, and students at Panamericana, who did their part by giving a gift to each of the 79 children of employees in the Operations Department. In total, 51 families benefited from the project.

A Look at the Numbers

Throughout 2023, 4,526 students, 290 staff members, 22 alumni, and 208 external participants took part, for a total of 5,046 volunteers.
