Aguascalientes, Ags. January 10, 2023.- Nine Panamericana students were chosen to be part of the national pre-selection of tocho bandera for the 2023 World Championship. The tryouts were held last November during the National Championship, which took place in Mexico City.

Both the men's and women's teams participated. After this process, it was announced the good news that nine students from our institution have been chosen to be part of the pre-selection, to aspire that, in the next phase, all these students with high competitive level and with the heart of high-level athletes can be part of the long-awaited final list to represent our country officially in the world championship.

In our campus, sports have grown a lot and in a continuous way. They have been boosted to the degree that all teams compete in the most important tournaments of their respective disciplines. The members of tocho bandera are not left out of this pinnacle.
"This sport has developed quite a bit at the national level," says Luis Enrique Rejas, Lucho, as he is known, Coordinator of Sports at the Aguascalientes campus. "Therehas been this growth, particularly in the women's branch. They recently won the gold medal at the World Games in Birmingham, in the United States. And the men's team won the podium in the same tournament.
Fernando Peña, the team's starting quarterback, commented: "I feel very comfortable with my teammates. We have been able to form a very good and united group. When we got the news that we had made the pre-selection, we were very happy. It was a very big tournament, with some 300 teams, and being nominated makes me and the whole team very proud. It motivates me to continue giving my all and to improve as an athlete to have a much better performance.

"Previously we had never had this kind of precedent. The number of students who were pre-selected is truly inspiring, because practically all of the students from the State of Aguascalientes have been UP students. This motivates us to promote this sport, which has only been on campus for a few years and is already giving very good results," concludes Lucho.
