"Journalism is a vocation and is called to tell the new narratives of the 21st century by provoking a better social dialogue" - Luis Cárdenas

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; February 24, 2023.- The conference "Journalism in Mexico and the challenge of artificial intelligence" took place, organized by the School of Communication of the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara, which was given by Luis Cardenas, journalist of MVS Radio and Universal.

Journalism in Mexico

In his talk, the Mexican journalist spoke about the different challenges facing the world of communication with respect to artificial intelligence, the myths that exist and the evolution it has brought with it in recent years.

Cárdenas, who currently has more than 209 followers on Twitter, said that journalism is going through a period of change, in which artificial intelligence is increasingly present in the working world.

"Machines are beginning to process human language. In journalism, today artificial intelligence automatically writes news". An example of this is the GPT Chat, as a new technological tool, which will come to revolutionize the tasks in journalism.

However, he emphasized that what is going to remain is human talent in conjunction with artificial intelligence. "You want to do new research, you can do it.Here's a great tool that's going to help you do it.You're going to decide how to use it."

At the end of his lecture, the MVS and El Universal journalist made a call to Communication and Journalism students:

"They have in their hands the great task of deciding whether they are going to contribute to the stupidization of humanity or whether they are going to contribute to the deepening of perceptions such as have never before occurred in humanity."
