Zapopan, Jalisco; August 28, 2025.—As part of its commitment to enriching campus life, the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Universidad Panamericana opened two new spaces on August 28 : the UP Store and a new OXXO convenience store on its campus.
Teachers, students, administrators, and staff gathered at both opening ceremonies to see these new communal spaces.
Fostering identity
The first space to open was the UP Store, a place where the university's identity is evident throughout.

The architectural design by Ares Arquitectura was carried out by architects Carlos Guerrero, Felipe Mejía, and Ricardo Martínez. This space features large, modern display cases showcasing items representative of the university community, such as clothing, backpacks, and accessories, including the iconic miniature panther.

““This project was launched with the firm intention of giving much greater visibility to our brand, which now has a presence not only locally and nationally, but also internationally,”said the campus president, Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade, moments before performing the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“It is also a great opportunity for us to strengthen university pride and reinforce our identity as an institution. Therefore, this isn’t just a store; it’s a way to spread the love we all have for our UP brand.”
The space was blessed by Dr. Héctor Tadeo López Limón, thereby reaffirming its role as a place of gathering and belonging for the entire community.

Making college life easier
The second space to open was an OXXO store, designed to make campus life easier. With an innovative format tailored to young people, it features a self-checkout system that reduces wait times and provides quick service between classes.

At the event, Dr. Alejandro Rodríguez Magaña, the campus’s general administrator, offered words of welcome and gratitude. He emphasized that this project was launched with the clear goal of making students’ lives easier.
“We know that college life isn’t always easy. Classes, homework, projects, exams. That’s why this store is here to be your everyday partner—a convenient, accessible place right in your neighborhood where you can find whatever you need at any time,”he said.
For his part, Rafael Mollinedo Rocha, OXXO’s store opening manager in Jalisco, explained that this model was designed with college students’ daily routines and needs in mind, enhancing their on-campus experience.
A university collaboration project
It was also noted that this project is the result of a year of planning, negotiations, and efforts. The dean of the Guadalajara campus thanked everyone involved, emphasizing that this achievement reflects the institution’s commitment to the university community.
He also highlighted the collaborative efforts of the team from the Universidad Panamericana, led by Dr. Alejandro Rodríguez Magaña, as well as the cooperation of the general administration, the infrastructure department, and the OXXO team.

Commitment to campus life
More than just new stores, these spaces serve as places for gathering, comfort, and a sense of belonging, created based on suggestions from the university community itself.
With projects like this, the Universidad Panamericana reaffirms its commitment to promoting initiatives that meet students’ needs and enhance their college experience.
