In recent days , the Aguascalientes Campus of the National Polytechnic Institute ( Universidad Panamericana ) received the Gold Award for the second consecutive year as a student chapter of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). The event was held at the Interdisciplinary Professional Engineering Unit (UPIIG IPN) on the Guanajuato Campus of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) in Guanajuato.
Gold Award
This recognition is the highest distinction awarded to chapters that meet the objectives and standards established by the IISE leadership to carry out activities that not only contribute to the education of industrial engineers and students in other engineering disciplines, but also provide them with exposure to social and humanities fields.
This institute has student and professional chapters. The student chapters are identified by numbers. The Panamericana Aguascalientes campus is Chapter 787. It consists of ten students and one professor from Panamericana, who promote academic activities as well as personal development, both for themselves and their classmates.

IISE
The IISE promotes student and professional chapters in Mexico; the UP student chapter has been recognized in recent years as one that consistently strives to excel.
Every year, we participate in a summit where students from chapters at various institutions share the activities they carry out. For example, community service or language promotion activities.
“The goal is to round out the students’ profile. For this reason, they regularly participate in symposia, seminars, company visits, and, most importantly, competitions such as GeneSys, organized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology,”says Dr. Crisdalith Cachutt Alvarado, a research professor at the Aguascalientes campus. “The latter is more focused on the field of logistics, and students from our institution had the opportunity to participate in the competition.”
Each year, every chapter submits a report on all the activities it promotes, and that report may be honored with the Gold Award— an honor the university received this year. For this reason, the students were able to spend two weeks at this highly prestigious university in Massachusetts.
