- The relevance of dedicating time to research during academic training to lay the foundation for a solid academic career.
- The crucial role of mentors in professional development, both in the clinic and in research.
- The impact of research on clinical practice, such as the study in which he questioned the standard approach in surgeries for certain types of cancer and the adoption of new surgical techniques.
- The importance of equity in access to care and the development of interventions to address disparities in cancer treatment, as well as the use of databases to better understand patient outcomes.
"Always think big, with a focus, and long-term goals, and recognize the importance of things in key," he noted.
