UP Aguascalientes launches Energy and Smart Systems Engineering: a strategic commitment to the future of energy

Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, December 4, 2025.— The Universidad Panamericana , AguascalientesUniversidad Panamericana reaffirms its commitment to training professionals capable of responding to the current challenges of the energy sector. In this context, the Bachelor’s Degree in Energy and Smart Systems Engineering was introduced, a program designed to address the technological and sustainable needs demanded by today’s world.

Innovative training that makes an impact on the industry

This new academic program integrates energy generation, efficient use, and smart management through monitoring technologies, applied specifically to civil engineering projects such as residential homes, commercial buildings, and industrial parks, with the goal of developing real, high-impact solutions.

“We are proud to see the first cohort of students in this program, which will break new ground with a curriculum that addresses the energy transition issues that require urgent attention,”said Mercedes Urzúa González, M.A., dean of the School of Engineering, as she opened the event.

Keynote Address: Energy Outlook 2024–2030

As part of the comprehensive training offered by the new program, MBA Guillermo Medina Medina gave a lecture titled Energy Outlook 2024–2030. During his presentation, he addressed key topics for understanding the present and future of the sector:

  • Energy transition and electrification.
  • National energy self-sufficiency.
  • Clean technologies and efficiency in generation, distribution, and storage.
  • Self-consumption models and the economic viability of renewable energy.
  • Trends in electric mobility and the electrification of industrial processes.

“Everyone will take courses in energy—marketing, management, medicine—because everyone needs to understand it, but you will be the specialists, the speaker noted, highlighting the strategic role of engineers in the country’s energy transition.
