Zapopan, Jalisco; October 17, 2023.- Douglas Woolkolf Martínez is an outstanding Alumni of the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara, graduate of the career of Digital Animation Engineering and since January 2022 lives in Montreal, Canada.

Douglas decided to study filmmaking because he wanted to know how films were created and all the visual effects involved in production and post production.

Experience in the Universidad Panamericana

Douglas described his experience at Panamericana as challenging but rewarding because, although the degree program encompassed several areas, he felt most confident and accomplished in the field of 3D modeling, where he created digital products for various visual applications in film, commercials and similar projects.

"The 3D modeling area was where I felt most confident and knew how to develop myself.. 3D modeling is to generate a digital product within the computer and that can be used to represent different digital resources within a film, commercial or any other visual project," he emphasized.

Work during and after college

While in college, Douglas worked as an intern in different areas of the university, including UP Theatre and Admissions. These non-career related experiences provided him with opportunities for personal growth and communication skills.

"Not only is your world on the professional side, but there are more existing areas and opportunities for growth, so I was still looking in those areas that, even if they weren't in my career, to try to do something that was still related to what I wanted," she said.

After graduating, Douglas worked in a real estate company creating 3D models for children's games and then in an advertising agency in the area of Motion Graphics.

Opportunity in Canada

After working for the real estate and advertising agency, he sought new job opportunities abroad, so he applied for a vacancy in Montreal, Canada.

His selection process was based on tests and an admissions course. He arrived in Canada in January 2022 and worked for the company Mister X, which was later acquired by NVC Film. The Digital Animation Alumni highlighted the independence and growth opportunities he has experienced in Canada.

"In the end it's what I've always liked, what I've always wanted to be doing, which is to be doing visual effects for series and movies. It's something that for me I've always fantasized about since I was a child, watching those movies that we liked, which basically is not real but makes you feel emotions, makes you think about the fantastic, imagine things or simply take you to an experience, "he said.

Douglas advised the students not to give up on their goals and to focus on "keep trying to go for that project, that job, those dreams that you have because there are things that get a little bit harder even when you get out but it's also the best thing that comes along."
